Two years ago today Marcie + Mike became wife + husband on a lovely, picture perfect day in May! Happy Anniversary guys! Hope you have something fun planned…..and to help bring back those beautiful memories of your wedding day, we thought we’d put together a little post of moments from the day…enjoy!
Here is a little something that Marcie wrote up about their love story…..
Mike and I met 4 years ago. Our first meeting was a Temple Grill in New Haven. Also at the same restaurant we met our photographers for the first time 😉
The connection was perfect and he was everything I hoped for in a guy. We had so much in common, including our creativity, hobbies, and our love for music..and wineI also loved his talent as a photographer. Two years later Mike was photographing a concert at Toads Place in New Haven..the main band called Secondhand Serenade. After a few songs, he suddenly ended up on stage with the band and all his camera gear. He grabbed the singers mic and called me onstage to propose. I couldn’t believe it and I don’t think I ever saw anyone so nervous in my life. I tried so hard not to cry over excitement. It was perfect, and I will never forget his words.
Next was the wedding. I probably changed my ideas 1000 times about venues, themes, colors, etc. I was inspired everywhere I looked and I couldn’t even focus anymore at work. We ended up booking the venue at Woodwinds close to our house. And the Ceremony just down the street from there in Stony Creek at a little church on the water. It was the church I went to growing up, so it had a lot of meaning. I had finally decided on a theme – Wine. Colors – purple, green, white and black. I created an inspiration board of details to help me with my planning.
Details: The wine theme was fun. Our centerpieces were rustic baskets filled with white and green flowers and purple grapes. I named each table after a different bottle of wine and created a label to wrap around the neck of each bottle. I also made all the table card holders by hand, using corks, wire, ribbon and mini clothespins. For our favors we made by hand little mulling spice bags with instructions attached. For the guests to sign in I provided a bucket of corks and markers so they can sign them and put them into this wine cork cage I found online. During cocktail hour we hired Chamard to do a wine tasting for all the guests..which I was sad we had to miss. Our wedding cake went along with the theme..decorated with grapes, purple roses and twigs. We also rented a cotton candy machine..purple cotton candy of course. Attire – I tried on several dresses and ended up choosing a style i wasn’t really looking for, but i fell in LOVE with this dress. I made my hair piece with white and purple feathers and I chose purple shoes. Mike and the groomsmen wore black suits with purple ties..along with our handsome little ring bearer. My bridesmaids wore simple black cocktail dresses, black shoes and I created purple hair pieces for all of them. My adorable little flower girl had a white dress with a purple waistband and bunches of purple flowers floating in between the layers of the dress.
Wedding Day: It was such an unforgettable day, a perfect sunny summer day. The ceremony was so laid back and unique. I walked down the aisle to November Rain..one of my favorite songs. The vows Mike had written for me were amazing, it was impossible not to shed a tear. I will never forget our first dance and how i couldn’t erase the smile off my face. The song was very meaningful to us since we first met and we had taken dance classes to go along with the song. Mike and I enjoyed our favorite Cakebread Chardonnay wine all night. Our guests had a blast, which made for very amusing photo booth pics. It was such an amazing experience…The planning and the entire day of our wedding.
