Our Studio : A Transformation

It was literally raining inside this quaint 1800’s downtown Stafford Springs storefront, So many people thought we were absolutely INSANE to buy this building!  But we did anyway.  To us, all we saw was our vision, our dream studio, alive and vibrant in our minds eye. So, we’d like to share with you a story.  We have to prepare you though….for it’s a dirty one.

Here goes….Once upon a time, we looked at a seemingly imsurmountable project right in the eye, and stated “I have a dream!!”  Okay, maybe it wasn’t quite a historic event, but to us buying and completely renovating this historic building from (almost) the ground up, was a dream come true…..and a tremendous amount of blood, sweat and tears.

And, did I mention, that we have some pretty AMAZING friends that will work for pizza and beer?  Even though it was almost 100˚out when we gutted the whole kit and kaboodle….ugh!  Just look at how dirty our crew got! I’m pretty sure none of us were wearing masks during this intial phase….look at our sooty noses!  But this was just the tip of the iceberg….

Oh, by the way, that’s Paul all the way on the left wearing the UConn t-shirt (way to show team spirit!!)

And I’m the dork wearing the Yankee’s hat going “ta-da!!!”

I’m not a Yankees fan anymore BTW…major league sports just ain’t my cup of tea anymore.

But getting my hands dirty is (my cup of tea, that is ; )

From here, Paul will take on the narration:  warning- he is a man of few words- written words that is.   Take it away Paulie!

“Then I decided to tackle almost ALL of the renovation myself!”

Did I mention that Paul is really superman in disguise?  A soot-covered, sweat-soaked disguise?

About 2.5 years later here is where we are  :)

Yup….believe your eyes!!!

Told you he was a man of few words…..stay tuned for more images of our studio space!!!!

XOXO,  Krystal & Paul

Congratulations on your studio, your business, your marriage and your happiness. Terrific website, astounding photographs. Your dad e-mailed me tonight a link to your blog and photo essay about your parents, and I am sure you reduced your mom AND your dad to gooey puddles of parental pride and tears. If I had a son who did this kind of tribute to me, my head would explode from the emotional overload. I’m proud of you and I’m not even related to you, dude!

Of all your other photo essays, I liked the Ruohan and Di pictures. The physical chemistry your photos captured between these two young people is just off the charts.

Best of luck, success and happiness to you and Krystal.

Some people that I work with told me that there are some photos of Stephanie and Steve on facebook, that were done by you. If that is true could you send them to my e-mail as I don’t have facebook. Steph and Steve should be home late tomorrow night. It is killing me not having some pictures. Everyone had a great time and I’m excited to see the pictures.
