We had the most amazing time with Ruohan + Di on their wedding day! Fotos of the two of them together were super important to the couple, and so they scheduled their whole day around a wedding day portrait shoot! We spent at least 3 hours driving around Newport in a limo with the couple and their small bridal party, stopping at locations to create some beautiful images- a fotographer’s dream! We had plenty of time to create and Ruohan & Di were able to enjoy spending quality time together for most of the day, making for a very enjoyable and non-stressful day for all! Eventually, we made our way to Di’s parent’s home, where the casual and joyful reception was held, complete with delicious Chinese food and toasts galore! Paul & I couldn’t understand most of the toasts because they were in Chinese, but we enjoyed the happy vibes as this great couple was toasted!
Ruohan continues with her thoughts about her and Di’s wedding day:
“This is an absolute DIY wedding. I did my makeup and made all the flowers. How to make a bouquet? Youtube!!! Our families decorated the venue, and my roommate was our DJ. Di picked out a few classic poems for recital, and had our friends read them in both English and Chinese. The reception took place in a tent behind Di’s parents’ house, a family friend who owned a restaurant catered our food. Everything just became exactly what we wanted in our mind.
A week before the wedding, temperature was in the 100s, and a hurricane was coming up the coast and we had no backup! But luckily for us, the hurricane passed by two days before, and the high wind stopped the morning of our wedding. It turned out to be a beautiful day: gorgeous deep blue skies and mild temperature. I still remembered the gentle ocean wind blew on my veil and my dad took my hand walking towards Di. Di wrote a set of vows for us, which we exchanged during the ceremony. We vowed to the ocean before us and to the sky above us, that we will sail the seas together in good times and shelter each other when the storm comes.”
Ruohan as wrote this beautiful passage about marriage:
“Girls always remember that day when you are tightly being with the man you dream about for the rest of your life.
The lucky thing is the man has the same feeling about you and would like to do the same thing with you as well.
And this is the most beautiful thing in the life.
People are not always being that lucky.
But yes, we are lucky.
I believe when you rewind that day with the pictures and videos or even just in your mind
you will always have tears in the eyes.”
I definitely will Ruohan, and I’m sure every wife and husband out there will agree with you : ) Congratulations to you both and thank you for having us be part of your wedding day!
