Hill-Stead Museum CT Wedding : Heather + Matthew : Part 2

Heather + Matt planned so many personal details for their wedding, and their tent reception definitely was a a reflection of some of these awesome details!  There were white flip-flops for the guests (in case of tired feet :  ), an awesome hand-made branch art project telling the guests where they were seated (made by Heather, who was an art student), hand-made signs everywhere, super unique and artsy floral design by our favorite florists Tony Palmieri and Cat Epright of Datura: A Modern Garden, and cute handmade signature drink flags!  We also met for the first time Emily’s Catering, who’s cuisine and service was so incredible, that they are the only caterers we recommend now, and Paul & I ended hiring them to cater our wedding in October!  Another sweet detail was the inside of the wedding bands, which were engraved with “in my life, I loved you more,” from the Beatle’s famous song.  I have to mention also that Heather + Matt are giant Beatles fans, just like myself, so they had a lot of Beatles influence, including music played by a trio for their ceremony and immediately afterwards, and lots of Beatles music during the reception!  I was in Beatles heaven :  )

Heather continues about her wedding day:

“We wanted the day to be a reflection of US, of our friends and family. We also wanted to have fun, be creative and do everything together as a couple. I didn’t want Matt to be a guest at his own wedding so everything was a joint decision. We choose the Hill Stead because of its rare beauty, the art and architecture.

We made our wedding our own by really doing what we wanted! We had lots of inspiration and ideas from magazines but we put our own twist on things.  A big inspiration was the time period of the Hill Stead, early to mid 1900’s. We wanted that kind of atmosphere so we choose  details like lace and pastel colors. We had croquet, parasols, and hand fans. We really wanted a fancy picnic!”
