Blue Hill at Stone Barns NY Wedding : Maggie + Nathan : Part 1

Man, do we have a feast for your eyes today!

Behold, the magic of the wedding day of Maggie + Nathan Bird…..

Words can’t describe how awesome of a couple Maggie + Nathan are and how much fun it was to be part of their fantastic wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns!  So, I will keep my writing down and let the images speak for themselves.  But I do have to say that it was a true honor to be part of such an emotional day and we love these guys…..  Maggie + Nathan, you guys really deserve each other and your energies really complement each other.  You each have found your soulmate, your life aventure partner, and we are sure you will have a wonderful life together.  You can tell you put your hearts and souls into planning your wedding day, and it was so lovely to see it all come together.   Between the gorgeous location of Blue Hill at Stone Barns estate, and the details that you came up with with the help of your amazing friend Barb from Hatch Creative Studio, everything was so personal and pretty, and so much fun fotograph.  Thank you so much for having us there to celebrate your love, and it was a real pleasure be surrounded by beautiful people, inside and out.  Thank you also for treating us like your guests….you guys are good people (and as a side the note…..the farm-to-table food was outstanding….can’t wait to go back someday!)  Enjoy these images we captured for you and our hope is that these little glimpses bring back the joy of the day……

Much Love and Bird is the Word,

Maggie shares with us her and Nathan’s love story…..

Nathan + Maggie’s Lovestory

“It all started on the playground of Coleytown Elementary School in 1982. My first memories are of Nathan in 3rd grade running in the school halls and my mom (a teacher) yelling at him to slow down! We were always around each other but never had talked long enough to really gotten to know each other. …insert a pause of 20 something years…Our romance began at Compo Beach (the rocky side) in the summer of 2010 when a trip to the beach turned into 8 hours of sharing and then almost immediately we realized the connection we had and how much we had in common we shared. Our friends were all shaking their heads seeing two friends that they had never pictured together realized how much sense it all made…Then 11 months later, Memorial Day 2011, Nathan proposed on the playground of Coleytown Middle School under the window that had once been my mom’s classroom.

Favorite memories and highlights

I have 2 favorite memories of the day……

1) the first look.  I had always knew I wanted to have us do our photos before the ceremony but that’s really more because of wanting to get them “out of the way” and feel less rushed during the party. I didn’t know it was going to feel as intimate and special to have just the 2 of us have a moment together instead of seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony. I loved having that time alone together before the wedding. it eased my nerves and it also carved out a special time together that if we hadn’t done first look photos we would never had shared together. my surprise for nathan was that I had taken his suit jacket and had a monogram of our initials and the date set in a heart sewn into the inside lapel. When we saw each other dressed he was able to show me his excitement over the monogram surprise. Another amazing moment during the first look was as we were walking around the grounds of Stone Barns and out of now-where the cows that had been grazing in the fields all started migrating towards the stone wall were were shooting in front of. As the cows approached, Nathan reached out his hand and one of the cows came over and gave his hand a big lick/kiss! It was an amazing moment.
…..to be continued tomorrow….stay tuned….
